Testing Auger Drive Control "*
Priorto operatingyoursnowthrower,carefullyreadandfollowall
instructionsbelow.Performall adjustmentsto verifyyoursnow
throweris operatingsafelyandproperly.
When theaugercontrolis releasedand inthe disengaged"up"posi-
tion,thecable shouldhaveverylittleslack,but shouldNOTbetight.
1. In a well-ventilatedarea,start the snowthrowerengineas
instructedin the O_erationsection.Makesure thethrottle is setin
the fastposition.G_p
2. Whilestandinginthe operator'sposition(behindthesnow
thrower),engagethe augercontrolandallowthe augertoremain
engagedfor approximatelytensecondsbeforereleasingthe
augercontrol.Repeatthis severaltimes.
3. Withtheenginerunninginthe fastposition '_ andthe
augercontrolinthe disengaged"up"position,walkto the front
of the machine.Confirmthattheaugerhas completelystopped
rotatingandshowsnosignsof motion.
4. If the augershowsany signsof rotating,immediatelyreturntothe
operator'spositionandshutoffthe engine.Waitforall moving
partsto stopbeforereadjustingthe augercontrolcable.
Testing Drive Control & Shift Lever
Referto Figure9 for locationofcontrols.
1. Movethe shift leverintosixth (6)position.
2. Withthewheeldrivecontrolreleased,pushthe snowthrower
forward,then pullit back.The machineshouldmovefreely.
3. Engagethe drivecontroland attemptto movethemachineboth
forwardandback,resistanceshouldbefelt.
4. Movethe shift leverintothe fast reverse(R2) positionandrepeat
the previoustwosteps.
If youexperiencedresistancerollingthe unit,eitherwhenrepositioning
the shift leverfrom6 to R2 orwhenattemptingto movethe machine
withthe drivecontrolreleased,adjustthedrive controlimmediately.

Adjusting Drive and Auger Controls
1. Frombeneaththe handle,pulldownwardon theappropriatecable
andunhookthe springfoundonthe endofthe cablefromits
respectiveactuatorbracket.Referto Figures9 and10.
2. Slidethespringup the cableto exposethe cablecouplerthreads
andlocknut.Referto Figure11.
3. If adjustingthe drivecable,threadthe locknut outward(downthe
coupler)to lengthenthe cableandallowtheunit tomovefreely
whenthe controlis released.Threadthe locknutinward(upthe
coupler)to shortenthe cableto reduceslippageandpreventthe
machinefrombeingeasilymovedwiththe drivecontrolengaged.
4. If adjustingthe augercable,threadthelocknut downto lengthen
the cableas necessaryto stopthe augerfromturningwhen the
controlis released.

Reattachthe springto the rearmostholein theactuatorbracket.
Repeatthe wheeldriveandaugercontrolteststo verifyproper
adjustment.Repeatpreviousstepsif necessarytoattainproper
adjustmentof eachcable.
