Trouble Probable Cause Remedy
Basically the compressor problems can be narrowed down to three areas of checkout.
THE COMPRESSOR WILL
NOT RUN
A. No voltage to the compr
essor ter-
minals.
B. Low voltage
C. Problems in the compressor elec-
trical circuit.
A. Check circuit.
B. Below 90% of nameplate rated
vo
ltage
C. See electrical checkout instruc-
tions.
THE COMPRESSOR STARTS BUT
TRIPS REPE
ATEDLY ON THE
OVERLOAD PROTECTOR
A. Fan / condenser problem.
B. Suction and discharge problem.
C. Voltage.
D. High compressor amperage draw.
A. Check for proper fan operation
an
d clean condenser.
B. Check the compressor suction and
discharge pressures
.
C. Voltage should be within 10% of
the r
ated nameplate voltage.
D. It should never exceed 120% of the
rated nameplate amperage. See
electrical checkout instructions.
