COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder 1 General Description: The CD Printer 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder is a CD/DVD ink jet printer, based on the HP DeskJet 5000 series printer technology from Hewlett Packard. The form feed is replaced by a compact disc printer drawer (Tray). The CD Printer 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder prints directly to the surface of printable CDs or DVDs coated for ink jet colour print.

COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder Power on switch and Power LED Power Button and - LED With the Power Button you can switch the printer on and off. After pressing it takes a couple of seconds until the printer becomes ready. The Power LED blinks when printing data is being processed. Caution! Always use the Power button to turn on or off. Using a power strip, surge protector, or a wall-mounted switch to turn the printer on and off may cause printer failure.
COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder Cancel Button Print Cartridge Status - LED Resume Button and LED Cancel Button The current print job is aborted by pressing the Cancel Button. Print Cartridge Status - LED The Print Cartridge Status LED blinks when a cartridge needs to be replaced or requires maintenance as well as when the front cover is open. Resume Button and - LED The Resume Button blinks in case of a general error, or if no disc is present in the printing tray.

COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder 2 Printer driver 2.1 Installation 2.1.1 First Installation (Plug & Play) Connect the CD Printer 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder to the power supply. Switch-on is not necessary since the personal computer recognizes the printer also in idle status. Connect the printer with a USB cable to the PC. The Plug & Play function recognizes now automatically that a new printer is connected and starts the installation routine.

This dialog field informs you that the driver is not registered officially with the manufacturer of the operating system. It does not state, however, anything about the quality of the driver. You can be sure, that the driver is programmed and tested with the latest programs and tools. You can continue the installation without any doubt.

We recommend to use the suggested name CD PRINTER 5000. Complete the Add Printer Wizard and start the installation by pressing the button „Finish“. COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder 2.1.3 Uninstalling In order to uninstall the printer driver, the personal computer must be restarted first of all. This is necessary so that all files which are used by the old printer driver are not blocked by other applications or the operating system. Blocked files can not be removed during the deinstallation. This may cause problems, in the case of a later reinstallation.. All programs must be closed before the deinstallation of the printer driver.
COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder If no problems occur during the installation, you get this Information dialog. The uninstalling is finished after the restart of the Personal Computer. This window comes up, when some files could not deleted by the Uninstaller. Please restart the Personal Computer and run this uninstaller application again. NOTE : At the end of the uninstalling the personal computer must be restarted! May 2005 www.copytrax.
COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder 2.1.4 Driverupdate At first, download the latest driver from the FTP download server if the latest driver is available on CD. Look on www.copytrax.com to find the latest CD PRINTER 5000 PRO driver. In order to update the printer driver, the personal computer must first be restarted. This is necessary so that all files which are used by the old printer driver are not blocked by other applications or the operating system.
COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder If one file can not be deleted, this dialog box appears. Press OK to go on with the update. In this case, take care of the Finish Dialog. This kind of update is a combination of uninstalling and manual new installing. Anyway, it is fast and sure that all necessary files are up to date at the end.

Press OK to continue. If the Uninstaller finishes with this error, not all of the necessary files could be deleted. Restart the PC and run the uninstaller again. Windows specific update solution, which we not recommend to use, because you can not be sure that all necessary files are updatet succesfully. We mention this update possebility, because it is used by the Operating system, but we recommend not to use it.

COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES 2.2 MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder Description The printer software, which is called printer driver sends the printing requests from the different applications to the printer. Many options are possible to modify the printing data which will be sent to the printer. To achieve best results, it is necessary to make some tests with different options. The printing driver software consists off well known MS Windows functions and some special functions in the Maintenance dialog.
COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder 2.2.1 Printer Properties The current settings will be saved with the option „Print Task Quick Sets. The CDP 5000 Pro supports 120 mm * 120 mm CD and DVD formats. *cd & Recordable Cards is possible with proper templates and settings.
COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder In the „Basics“ dialog, you can set the number of copies and enable the print preview. If the CDP is driven by an autoloader, you have to disable the print preview and the number of copies has to be 1. Otherwise, the printer is not able to work automatically. The „Advanced Features“ allows you to set the ink volume and the dry time. These settings are depending very much on the chosen print quality and mode.
COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder This setting forces the printer to print in Greyscale. More information is given in the chapter „How to set print quality and mode” To print without colour and photo Cartridge, you can set the option „Black Print Cartridge Only“. This setting is not possible with the print mode “Photo“. Look for information in the chapter “How to set print quality and mode” This dialog allows you to fit the print image onto the different possible media sizes.

COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder 2.2.2 Maintenance Dialog This dialog box helps you to set and check the physical options of the CD PRINTER 5000 Pro. Each option of this dialog will be explained separately. ThePrinting tray of the CD PRINTER 5000 PRO RECORDER can be opened and closed with this two buttons. These buttons has the same function than the resume button ( see page 6 ) at the left hand front of the printer.

Pressing the button „Print Calibration File“ generates a special print image, which will be used to calibrate and centre the printout. A distance from 1 mm equals a value of 100 steps.
COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder This area is used for the cartridge alignment. Press the button „Print Alignment File“ to print a special print image, which shows you the alignment plot. Choose the values, where the lines are straight, write values into the proper fields and press the button „Save Alignment“ to store the value inside the printer memory. Depending on the installed cartridges, the alignment plot and alignment dialog looks different.
COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder This setting allows you to set a level which stops the printing if the calculated ink level is less. There are 4 different settings available. Early: Normal: Late: Never: Note: Stop printing, when the ink level is less than 10 %. Stop printing, when the ink level is less than 0 %. Stop printing, when the cartridge is definitely out of ink. Do not stop printing.
COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder 2.2.3 How to set print quality and mode Mode: Standard Premium Photo (In this mode, the printer does not use the black cartridge.) Quality: Normal (fast printing) Best Maximum dpi.
COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder You can force the printer to use the black cartridge only, when you select it in the Colour options. You can use the CD Printer 5000 Pro with only one cartridge. If you do so, you are able to remove the other cartridge completely out of the printer. Removing the unused cartridge will save ink during the cleaning cycle. For example, you can remove the colour cartridge if you are printing greyscale with the selected option „Black Print Cartridge Only“.
COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder 3 Maintenance and Cleaning 3.1 Lubrication of Shafts Because of dirt and remains of ink it’s necessary to clean and lubricate the shafts of the tray frequently. Open the front cover. Put tone drop of oil onto the shafts (left and right, inner and outer position). Make sure that no oil is spilled into the printer! Before shipping the printer, you must either remove or replace the waste ink pads – due to risk of ink spillage during transportation !!! 3.2.

After changing the waste Ink pad, move the small cover back down and move carefully the cartridges back to the basic position. Finally, close the main cover and wait until the printer has finished the initialisation. Please wait, this can take some minutes. When the power LED stops flashing, the initialisation has finished. COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES 3.3 MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder Maintaining the Printer Body 3.3.1 Printer Case Exterior Follow these guidelines when cleaning the outside of the printer: Use distilled water only. Do not use household cleaners or detergents. Use a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, smudges, stains, and spilled ink from the exterior of the printer case. 3.3.2 Printer Interior Caution! Do not clean the printer’s interior. Keep all liquids out of the interior. 3.3.
COPYTRAX TECHNOLOGIES MONET 5000 Pro & Pro-Recorder 4 Troubleshooting 4.1 The CD Printer 5000 Pro print engine shows an error If the Printer has an error condition and the ink or paper LEDs are flashing, the opening and closing function of the drawer will not work. The power LED needs to be on permanently. To continue, the error condition needs to be eliminated. a.) Close Cover. b.) Insert Or Replace Print Cartridges. c.) Switch Printer Off And On. d.) Remove USB Cable from the USB Connector.

Check if a print cartridge is low on ink or improperly installed. 4.2.3 Resume-LED flashing There is a print job available in the spooler.
