SEASONINGTHECOOKINGGRATES:
Settheheatcontrolswitchtothe“low”positionandpreheatfor15to20minutes.Usinga
clothspreadathinfilmofcookingoiloverthetopofthegratesurface.Allowthefilmtore‐
mainonthegrateforabout5minutes.Wipethesurfacecleanandapplyanotherfilmof
cookingoil.Wipethesurfacecleanagain.Thebroilerisnowreadyforuse.Theoilmaytendto
smoke—thisisnormal.
BROILING:
Turntheunitto“Hi”andpre‐heatbeforeattemptingtobroil.Youwillhavetoexperimentwith
thesettingforyourparticularfoodproducts.Checkwaterpansfrequentlyandaddasufficient
amountofwaterwhennecessary.Hotwatervaporsrisingformthewaterpansandthroughthe
combustionchamber
helpsreduceflareups.Exercisecarewhenusingyourbroiler.
CAUTION—CHARBOILERSAREHOT!FLAREUPSCANOCCURUNEXPECTEDLY.
CLEANING:
Cleanregularly.Removegratesectiontosinkforwashing.Brushoutcarbonparticles.Re‐move
andwashwaterpan.Wipeexteriorsurfaceswithdetergentandacloth.Anon–abrasive
cleanercanbeusedoncakedareas.Thepellethoppershouldbeemptiedandcleanedonceper
week.
