Roof Vent Flashings
General Installation Instructions
1. Select proper size roof vent flashing for determined pipe size.
2. While holding the base of the flashing with both hands, slide
flashing down onto the pipe until reaching the roof deck or
surface.
3. While flashing is flush to the roof surface, attach flashing using
corrosive resistant roofing nails or staples in the upper corners
at least 1” from the top and side. Come down approximately 4”
from the top corner and repeat. Avoid nailing or stapling the
bottom portion of the flashing.
4. If it becomes necessary to attach the flashing using an adhesive
or caulking, we recommend a non-petroleum base product. At
all costs avoid contact with collar using any petroleum base
product.
5. Allow the bottom portion of the flashing to lie on top of the
shingles.
6. The top of the flashing will be covered one quarter to one half
of the way down on each side with roofing shingles. This
method will assure that the flashing works in conjunction with
the overlay pattern of the shingle application.
7. The use of silicone is at the installers discretion. We
recommend its use on the nails or staples only.
