5. Scroll in the Components checked are used by
this connection: list and select Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP).
If the host computer is running Windows XP, 2000,
Vista, or Windows 7 and is new to the network, you
must perform the following steps:
Although the screen captures in this
procedure are specific to Windows 2000,
they are similar for Windows XP, Vista,
and Windows 7.
1. Select Start Æ Settings Æ Control Panel.
2. When the control panel is open, find and double-
click the Network and Dial-up Connections icon
to launch the Network and Dial-up Connections
control panel.
6. Select the protocol icon for TCP/IP and click
Properties.
3. Double-click Local Area Connection.
7. When the dialog box appears, select Use the
following IP address:.
Enter an IP address and subnet mask for the
network you are setting up.
4. Right-click the icon and select Properties.
If you have any questions about the
assignment of the IP address or subnet
mask, contact the network administrator.
