18. Network sharing - configuration and usage
The Conceptronic Media Giant can be accessed as network share (Samba Server). With the network sharing
feature, you can share the FAT32 partition (HDD1) of the Media Giant through your network, so other
computers can reach the data stored on that partition.
Configuration
Select the option ‘Setup’ in the main menu. The Setup menu will be shown on your screen. In the Setup
menu, select ‘Network’. In the System Setup menu, there is an option called ‘Media Server’.
At the option ‘Media Server’, you can change the following settings:
- Server/Host name Specify the name of the Media Giant in your network. The default name of the
Media Giant is ‘media giant’.
- Group name Specify the name of your home network. The default group name is
‘WORKGROUP’.
When the settings are changed, press the ‘Return’ (14
) button on the remote control to return to the main
menu.
Usage
When you have configured the network settings of the Media Giant, you can access the network share
through a computer in your network.
Note:
The steps below show how you can access the Media Giant network share with the default settings
on a computer running Windows Vista.
By default, the network name of the Media Giant is ‘media giant’. With this name, you can reach the
network share of the device in the network.
• Select ‘Start’, ‘Network’.
Windows Explorer will show your network settings.
In the top bar, you can enter the network name of the Media Giant as following:
For example:
If the Media Giant is configured with the default settings, the network name is ‘media
giant’ and you should enter:
