Installing the WLAN Driver Only in Windows XP

Note: Follow these instructions to install the driver software Windows XP needs to

allow your C54RU to function. This will not install the WLAN Utility provided on

the C54RU install CD, and you will need to use the Windows XP built-in WLAN

support software to configure and manage your WLAN link.

Note: If you want to use the WLAN Utility provided with your C54RU to configure

and manage your WLAN link, follow the instructions for installing your C54RU for

Windows 2000 (and other Windows versions) given in the sections above. You will

then need to review the section titled Enabling the WLAN Utilities in Windows

XP, below.

Start your PC normally.

Insert the C54RU into an available USB slot and put the Installation CD into your

computer’s CD-ROM drive. You can then follow the instructions in the Found New

Hardware Wizard, as shown below, to install your C54RU on a computer with the

Windows XP operating system.

When you install the C54RU into your computer, the Found New Hardware Wizard

will begin by showing the screen below.
