Theremoteair‐cooledcondenserhasacoppertubeandaluminumfincoilwithmultiplefans.
Therefrigerantpassesthroughthecoppertubes,whiletheairpassesoverthefins.The
condensersuppliedisequippedtovarytheheaderfan(s)speedandoperatetheremainingfans
asneededtocontroltherefrigerantdischargepressureundervaryingambientandchiller
loadingconditions.PleaseseetheCTNRSeriesChillerRemoteAir‐CooledCondenserInstallation
GuidelinesManualforpropermountingandconnectionofthecondenser.
CondenserIntegratedAir‐Cooled(EP2AModelsOnly)
Thecondenserisconstructedofaluminummicro‐channelmaximumheattransfercapabilities.
Thecondenserhasbeengenerouslysizedsothechillercanoperatewithfullcoolingcapacities
inambientairtemperaturesofupto95°F(35°C).Thechillershouldbeabletooperatewith
ambienttemperaturesofupto110°F(43°C).Thefansdrawcoolairthroughthecondensers
anddischargeswarmairoutthetopofthecabinet.Unitsequippedwithcondenserfansare
designedtodrawsufficientairthroughthechilleraslongastherearenoobstructions.Thefans
arenotdesignedtodrawairthroughductworkordischargeairthroughductwork,thoughsome
modelsmaybeabletohavetheirexhaustducted.ConsultConairCustomerService.The
dischargeairwillbeapproximately35°F(20°C)warmerthantheintakeair.
FanCyclingControls(EP2AModelsOnly)
Thefancyclingcontrolsaredesignedtoturnonecondenserfanonandoffinordertomaintain
aminimumcompressordischargerefrigerantpressure.Duringnormaloperation,thefanor
blowerwillcycleonandoffbasedupontheprocessheatloadandambientairconditions.
CondenserWater‐Cooled(EP2WModelsOnly)
Theshellandtubecondenserisasteelshell,removablecastironendbells,andabundleof
coppertubes.Thecondenserwaterpassesthroughthecoppertubes,whiletherefrigerant
flowsaroundthetubesontheshellside.Awatermaintenanceprogramshouldbeinplaceto
preservethequalityofwaterusedtocoolthecondenser.Excessivecondenserfoulingcaused
bypoorwaterqualitywillcausepoorchillerperformanceandorchillerfailure.
CondenserWater RegulatingValve(EP2WModelsOnly)
AcondenserwaterregulatingvalveisprovidedasstandardonallNQWchillers.Thisvalveis
locatedinthecondenserwaterpipingattheoutletofthecondenser.Itregulatestheflowof
waterthroughthecondenserinordertomaintainthehigh‐pressuresideoftherefrigeration
circuit.Thisvalve
issetatthefactoryandshouldonlybeadjustedbyaqualifiedrefrigeration
technician.Thevalveonlypassesasmuchwaterasisrequiredtomaintaintherefrigerant
pressure,solesswaterwillberequiredifthewatertemperatureislowerthanthedesign85°F
(29°C).
Note:Thecondenserwaterregulatingvalvemaynotcompletelyshut‐offwaterflowwhenthechillerisnot
operating.Ifflowmustbecompletelystoppedforanyreason,ashut‐offvalve(manufacturedbyothers)mustbe
used.Makesuretheshut‐offvalveisreopenedbeforerestartingthechiller.
