throttlingvalveorflowcontrolvalve(byothers).Thevalveshouldbethesamesizeasthe
ToProcessconnectionofthechiller.Asignificantincreaseinflowbeyondthe
recommendedrate
maydamagetheevaporatorandcreateexcessivepressuredropsthat
influencetheoverallefficiencyofthesystem.
13. Setthedesiredleavingwatertemperatureonthecontrolpanel.Thechillershouldnowbe
controllingtotheselectedtemperature.Pleasenotethatifthereisinsufficientloadthe
compressormaycycleon
andoffcausingswingsintemperature.
WARNING:UndernocircumstanceshouldtheHighRefrigerantPressureortheLowCompressor
Pressureswitchbedeactivated.Failuretoheedthiswarningcancauseseriouscompressor
damage,severepersonalinjuryordeath.
14. Regulationofthechillertemperatureisbasedonsupplywatertemperature.Unless
otherwisespecified,itisfactorysettodelivercoolantat50°F(10°C).Adjusttothedesired
operatingtemperature.Resettingthetemperaturewillchangetheoperatingconditionsof
thechiller.Anylowerreadjustmentofthe controller mustbe doneonlyafterreferencing
Table3(onthepreviouspage)toensurethatthecoolanthasadequateantifreeze
protection.

15. Operatethesystemforapproximately30minutes.Checktheliquidlinesightglass.The
refrigerantflowpastthesightglassshouldbeclear.Bubblesintherefrigerantindicate
eitherlowrefrigerantchargeorexcessivepressuredropintheliquidline.Ashortag e of
refrigerantisindicatedifoperatingpressuresarelowandsubcoolingislow.Normal
subcoolingrangesarefrom10°F(5.5°C)to20°F(11°C).Ifsubcoolingisnotwithinthisrange,
checkthesuperheatandadjustifrequired.Thesuperheatshouldbeapproximately10°F
(5.5°C).Sincetheunitisfactorycharged,addingorremovingrefrigerantchargeshouldnot
benecessary.Iftheoperatingpressures,sightglass,superheat,andsubcoolingreadings
indicatearefrigerantshortage,chargerefrigerantasrequired.Withtheunitrunning,add
refrigerantvaporbyconnectingthecharginglineto
thesuctionservicevalveandcharging
throughthebackseatportuntiloperatingconditionsbecomenormal.
CAUTION:Aclearsightglassalonedoesnotmeanthatthesystemisproperlycharged.Also
checksystemsuperheat,subcooling,andunitoperatingpressures.Ifbothsuctionand
dischargepressuresarelowbutsubcoolingisnormal,aproblemotherthanrefrigerant
shortageexists.Donotaddrefrigerant,asthismayresult
inoverchargingthecircuit.
Onceproperflowandtemperatureareachieved,presstheStopbutton.Theunitisnowready
tobeplacedintoservice.
