is an ecient way of delivering BRIC-Link II digital audio streams to mulple locaons. This involves
relying on the network to distribute the stream to the locaons that require it, rather than creang an independent
stream for each user.
Performing an IP Mulcastrequires the use of an IP Mulcast-capable network. The commercial Internet, with few
excepons, is not capable of supporng IP Mulcast. Some private LANs and WANs are IP Mulcast capable.
IP Mulcast does not support duplex connecons, and only supports a single direcon stream. An encoder can not
receive input streams when mulcasng. CrossLock is not supported and should be turned o for all IP Mulcast
connecons.
The following secon presupposes that IP Mulcast users will be familiar with the basic concepts of setup and
operaon of the network, and will thus focus on how to congure BRIC-Link II for Mulcast mode.
To congure remotes for Mulcast, rst create a prole for either a Mulcast Sender or a Mulcast Receiver on the
tab.
As shown in , when dening a new prole there is the opon to choose as the prole type.
Mulcast proles have fewer opons than other prole types, however, and some of the available opons will have
no eect (e.g. seng an encoder type on a Mulcast receiver has no eect).
