The important sengs for Mulcast are:
• - Determines whether this parcular ACCESS is designed to generate the IP
Mulcast stream (send) or decode one (receive).
• - Determines the type of stream to be used by the Mulcast Encoder (not relevant
for decoders).
In addion to the basic opons for proles, clicking the box will allow seng of the same
available for N () proles.
All Mulcast connecons are outgoing connecons. A Mulcast Sender must iniate an outgoing stream, and a Mulcast
Receiver must iniate an incoming one. These remotes are congured within a special address range known as a
Mulcast Block, typically 224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255. To establish a Mulcast connecon, simply dene a remote as
having an address within the IP Mulcast Block, use an IP Mulcast prole, and press.
Time-to-Live (TTL) is a variable set by Mulcast encoders to determine how long a packet is processed before it is
dropped by the network. The default value of TTL in ACCESS is 0, which limits its use to within a LAN environment. TTL
may be manually changed on a Mulcast Sender remote by conguring the IP address followed by a “/” (forward slash),
followed by the TTL value.
As an example, a remote Mulcast encoder could be set for the address , which would signify an address
with the Mulcast Block with a TTL of (which is the max value available).
The default port of UDP 9000 may also be changed on Mulcast remotes. The port number is assigned in the usual way,
directly aer the IP address, preceded by “:”, followed by the TTL. As an example, the IP address of a Mulcast Sender on
port 443 with a TTL of 100 would read:
