Set up a service device
Before a service device with Orion Service can be used, a service device host must be available in the device list of
the software. The service device must also be registered with a registration code which is generated in the software.
To add a service device host to the device list:
1. Double click on
Devices
under the
Lists
tab in the navigation window.
2. In the
Devices
dialog which is shown, click
Add
to add a new service device host to the
system. The
Device details
dialog is shown.
Note:
If desired, mark the ‘Wizard mode’
check box to get more detailed help.
3. Enter a
Name
for the service device host.
4. At
Type
, choose “Service device host”.
If possible, use the default port.
Note:
Make sure that you use a unique port.
5. Choose
Location
for the service device;
normally ‘Server’ should be chosen.
If there are firewalls in the system, ‘Computer’
could be chosen – in
this case, also enter the computer name.
Note:
In some cases, several devices
might be needed due to firewalls etc.
6. Click
Save
, or
Update
if an existing
service device host was redefined.
7. Click
Close
.
To register the service device:
1. Double click on
Service devices
under
the
Lists
tab in the navigation window.
2. In the
Service devices
dialog, click
Add
.
3. A registration code is generated and shown
in a dialog. The code has to be keyed into the
service device within a given time interval; see
section Register PC in this appendix for details.
When this is done, the service device will pop
up in the service device list and will be ready
for use.
