This problem can be solved if, in each building, a hot spare pool is created for the disk
drives. In Figure 18, all the disk drives in building 1 have been made members of pool
A1, and all the disk drives in building 2 have been made members of Pool A2. A failure
of a member disk drive in Pool A1 now causes pdisk1 to be selected as the hot spare
disk drive.
Hot spare pools can be configured in other ways, as shown in figures 19 through 21.
