Macintosh Configuration 6-2
6.2 Naming the Printer and Setting the Zone
The 3000E has a default name of KYO_<serial#>, e.g. KYO_163479. This may be
changed to a more user friendly name using a standard web browser. Connecting with
a browser requires TCP/IP to be setup on the printer and the Macintosh. If TCP/IP is
not in use, the name may be changed using the KyoManage utility as described in
Section 6.4.
1. Set the printer’s IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway with DHCP
Section 8.2, with the printer’s front panel Section 8.1, or with KyoManage Section
6.4.
2. Connect to the 3000E with a web browser by entering the IP address as the URL,
e.g. http://206.129.6.54
3. When the 3000E home page is displayed, select 3000E Configuration.
4. Select Setup AppleTalk in the Protocols column.
5. Enter the Printer Name. Enter the Zone Name if other than the default zone.
6. Type the password, sysadm, in the appropriate box and click Accept Settings.
After a few seconds the screen should report that the update was successful.
7. Click the Back Arrow icon twice to return to the 3000E Configuration page. If
NetWare is not in use, it may be disabled under the Setup NetWare option. Be
aware that Windows IPX Peer to Peer printing requires NetWare to be enabled.
8. The new printer and zone names do not take effect until the 3000E is reset. Select
Reset in the System column and click on Reset Unit.
6.3 Installing the Driver and Selecting the Printer
The Macintosh LaserWriter Driver is installed from the CD provided with the printer.
1. Insert the CD, open the Drivers folder, then the appropriate country folder, and
double click on the FS-Series Installer program in the desired language.
2. Once installation is complete and your system has been restarted, select Chooser
from the Apple menu to open the Chooser.
3. Select the LaserWriter 8 driver, the zone (if any) and the 3000E printer.
4. Click on Create. The driver will automatically select the appropriate PPD file and
will display a dialog allowing selection of the installed printer options.
