Windows Configuration 5-17
5.6.2 Windows NT 4.0 Peer to Peer Printing
Windows NT 4.0 Peer to Peer printing configuration is identical to Windows 95/98.
5.4.2 Windows 95/98 (& NT 4.0) Peer to Peer Printing
5.6.3 Windows NT 4.0 LPR Printing
LPR printing requires that the workstation have TCP/IP capability and the
corresponding LPR spooler. If the printer is not shared, then an LPR queue must be
created on each workstation from which printing is initiated.
Windows NT 4.0 includes TCP/IP and LPR capabilities. The TCP/IP Protocol, Simple
TCP/IP Services, and Microsoft TCP/IP Printing must be installed prior to
establishing LPR printing.
Installing Windows NT 4.0 TCP/IP
The Windows NT system performing the 3000E LPR configuration must have the
TCP/IP protocol installed. The following steps describe how to check for and, if
necessary, add the required TCP/IP components.
1. Click on the Windows Start button, select Settings, and Control Panel.
2. Double click on Network and select the Protocols tab. If TCP/IP Protocol is not
in the list of Network Protocols, click on Add to install it.
3. Select the Services tab. If either Microsoft TCP/IP Printing or Simple TCP/IP
Services is not in the list of Network Services, click on Add to install them.
4. Click on Close when all protocols and services have been added. If the TCP/IP
protocol has just been added, Windows will prompt for the IP address and other
TCP/IP parameters. The new protocols and services will not be available until the
system is restarted.
Assigning the EcoLAN 3000E IP Address
The 3000E must be configured for TCP/IP communication. Please refer to section 5.7
for instructions.
