Operation and Troubleshooting 9-4
9.3 Resetting the EcoLAN 3000E to Factory Defaults
You can cause the EcoLAN 3000E to restore all parameters to factory default values,
so the EcoLAN 3000E appears just as it came from the factory. You may choose to do
this when the EcoLAN 3000E is moved to a new location where the environment
(AppleTalk network zones, NetWare file servers, IP subnets, and so on) is different.
This process is called Reset to Factory. It can be done with the standard Telnet or
HTML (accessed via MAP or a Web Browser) utilities. However, if network access is
not possible, the 3000E may be reset to factory defaults with a jumper setting. See
Appendix A for jumper instructions.
Note: Resetting to factory default means that the print server loses all data such as
names and IP addresses. It does not lose its serial number or MAC (Ethernet hard-
ware) address.
9.4 How to Diagnose Problems
Use the following list to determine the cause of printing problems:
1. Verify that the printer is functioning properly.
Is the printer printing? Make sure the printer is operating properly. Press the
Status key on the front panel to print a status page.
Is the printer on-line? Verify that the printer is on-line or else nothing will print.
Does the control panel display an error message? Review the printer
documentation for an explanation of the error messages.
Did you get a EcoLAN 3000E status page? On power-up, the EcoLAN 3000E
sends a status page which may contain information that can be useful for
troubleshooting. Keep the status page available until a problem is resolved.
Note: The EcoLAN power-up status page may be disabled with the management utili-
ties.
