NetBIOS Name Server.
4. If the printer NetBIOS name will not be supplied via DHCP, enter a NetBIOS
Name for the 3000E or make no entry to use the default name of KYO_<serial #>.
5. Type the password, sysadm, in the appropriate box and click Accept Settings.
After a few seconds the screen should report that the update was successful.
6. Click on the Home link, then select 3000E Configuration.
7. Select Reset in the System column and click on Reset Unit.
Once all steps of the HTML configuration are completed and the 3000E has
successfully registered with a WINS server, the word Registered will appear next to
either Primary or Secondary Server Registration on the TCP/IP configuration page.
The WINS registration is for a limited period, so the 3000E occasionally attempts to
refresh its WINS registration. Depending upon which WINS Server is active at
refresh, the indication of the registered WINS server may change from time to time.
8.4 Telnet
This section describes the interactive setup capability accessible through the Telnet
utility on any TCP/IP platform, and is equally applicable to Windows, UNIX, and
other TCP/IP environments. Te lnet uses the existing 3000E IP address to establish a
connection. Therefore, to open a Telnet session, the 3000E must already have a valid
IP address assigned.
The Telnet utility uses the standard remote terminal protocol to configure the IP
address, lpd printers, and other parameters on your system. Use the following
guidelines to run Telnet. The same functionality is provided with the HTML pages
accessed by MAP or a Web Browser as described ion Chapter 3.
General
Telnet Usage
• Telnet selections are made from menus by toggling between choices or by selecting/
deselecting or enabling/disabling an item.
• To return to a previous menu, press Enter without making a selection.
• If you do not make a menu selection for 2 minutes, you get a "Two Minute
Warning" that within 2 more minutes your Telne t session will end. This ensures
that one user does not leave a session idle for too long.
