Smart 16/16e Shelf for High Density Applications
The Smart 16/16e is a rack-mount system that complements the DSU III, ISU,
and TSU products. The Smart 16 shelf provides a 19 or 23 inch rack-mount
solution for up to 16 rack-mount DSU/CSUs, satisfying larger applications. The
shelf and all installed units are powered by an internally mounted AC or DC
supply. The user has the option of ordering a second supply, allowing redundant
protection. The Smart 16 shelf has a controller card for configuring and control-
ling the units installed in the local shelf. The controller card also allows access to
15 additional Smart 16 shelves. The controller card can be accessed by using
the hand-held DATAMATE or through the EIA-232 interface. The EIA-232
interface supports a local terminal or remote terminal through a modem connec-
tion. The user can configure, test, and monitor both the local and remote units.
Embedded SNMP is available in the Smart 16e shelf using the Smart 16e
controller card. The embedded SNMP agent has both a SLIP/PPP port and a
10BaseT ethernet port to provide access to up to 256 Smart 16 devices.
