STM Statistical Multiplexer Series
The STM High Speed Statistical Multiplexers multiplex up to 24 asynchronous
channels onto a single synchronous link. The STM-2 is a miniature statistical
multiplexer multiplexing two asynchronous channels onto a single synchronous
composite link at data rates up to 19.2 kbps. The STM-4 Statistical Multiplexer,
multiplexes 4 asynchronous channels at data rates of
300 to 19,200 bps. The STM-8/HS, STM-16/HS and STM-24/HS multiplex 8,
16, or 24 asynchronous channels on to a high speed link. Channel data rates
range from 75 bps to 19.2 kbps and the synchronous composite link operates
up to 64 kbps through one of four selectable interfaces: V.24/RS-232, V.35,
X.21 or RS-530. Powerful error detection and automatic retransmission
ensures error-free performance for all STM Multiplexers.

KLS.2 - Statistical Multiplexing Data Module for Kilomux
The KLS.2 Data Module provides four asynchronous data channels with
RS-232/V.24 interface for the KILOMUX. A separate RJ-45 connector is
available for each channel. Channel interface is DCE. The data rate on each
channel is selectable from 300 to 19,200 bps. All channels are statistically
multiplexed onto a single composite bit stream with bandwidth selectable up
to 19,200 bps. The composite link is multiplexed onto the KILOMUX main
link. Four control signals are supported per channel. One control signal per
channel may be transmitted end-to-end for handshaking purposes. Local
RTS appears as DCD at the remote site. DTR and CTS are available for use
as hard flow control.
