6500 – 6599, SCSI Hard Drive Test Error Codes
The 6500 series of diagnostic error codes identifies failures with SCSI hard drives, SCSI hard
drive controller boards, SCSI hard drive cables, and system board functions. If the system uses a
drive array controller, see “Array Diagnostic Utility (ADU)” later in this chapter.

6505-xx SCSI disk read test failed.

6509-xx SCSI disk erase tape test failed.
6523-xx SCSI disk random read test failed.
6528-xx Media load/unload test failed.
1. Replace the SCSI disk drive data cable and
retest.
2. Replace the SCSI controller and retest.
3. Replace the SCSI disk drive and retest.
4. Replace the Server Feature Board and
retest.
6600 – 6699, SCSI/IDE CD-ROM Drive Test Error Codes
The 6600 series of diagnostic error codes identifies failures with the CD-ROM drive cables,
CD-ROM drives, adapter boards, or the system board assembly.

1. Replace the CD-ROM media and retest.
2. Check and/or replace the signal cable and
retest.
3. Check the switch settings on the adapter
board (if applicable).
4. Replace the CD-ROM drive and retest.
5. Replace the system board and retest.
