Windows NT Server 4.0
Windows NT Server 4.0 provides an operating environment with a broad range of services and facilities. It is popular
for its file & print services, communications and web services as well as being an application server. In fact, it has
become a familiar work-horse in many companies today. As most companies have Windows NT or Windows 9x on
their desktops, a Windows NT server provides a feeling of familiarity and commonality.
Windows NT Server 4.0 comes in several editions. The standard Windows NT Server 4.0 will run on machines with up
to 4 processors; the Enterprise Edition enables up to 8 processors to be used. The facilities provided by alternate
editions are described below. Windows NT Server 4.0 Client access licences are required for each client connecting to
the server. Client access licences are the same for Windows NT Server 4.0, Windows NT Server 4.0 Enterprise Edition
and Windows NT Server 4.0 Terminal Server Edition. Windows NT Server 4.0 Small Business Server requires client
access licences specific to that product.
