To install an optional board:
1. Turn off the Avid system and remove the power cord.
2. Put on an antistatic wrist strap and connect it to a metal ground
point on your system.

To avoid static damage to your circuit board, take the proper
antistatic precautions before handling the board. Often a wrist strap
is provided with upgrade kits.
3. Remove the cover according to the manufacturer’s
documentation.
4. Install the optional board in the recommended PCI slot (see
Tab le 2 or Ta bl e 3 ).
5. Secure the optional board to the system.

Use any expansion slot blank panels you remove to cover any open slots not
used.

When sliding the expansion board assembly back into the Compaq
Professional Workstation AP500, fold the cable connecting the edit
display controller board and Meridien digital media board set so
that it does not get damaged.
6. Replace the cover according to the manufacturer’s documentation.
Installing the Fan
A fan assembly is required if you are upgrading an IBM IntelliStation
Z Pro 6866 system. Fan assemblies are included only with IBM
IntelliStation Z Pro 6866 upgrade kits. Skip this procedure if you are
upgrading the Compaq Professional Workstation AP500.
