Table 7–11 gives AlphaBIOS error messages that indicate hard disk
problems and suggests possible causes and solutions.

“Internal error
occurred”
Incompatible or failed
disk cables.
Try another cable known to
be good.
Disk controller not
configured.
Check your hard disk
controller documentation to
see if you have to run a
configuration utility to set
up your hard disk.
Disk controller
malfunction.
Test controller functioning
using the controller’s
diagnostic utility. If an
error is found, contact your
service representative for a
replacement.
Improper SCSI
termination.
Check to see that
terminating resistor packs
are removed from all drives
except the controller itself
and the last drive
connected to it.
