Hot-Plug SCSI Hard Drives
IMPORTANT: Before adding or removing any hot-plug SCSI drives, be sure to set the
drive in the Standby mode, as directed by the operating system instructions.
When replacing hot-plug hard drives, these guidelines must be followed:

LED Power Status Description
Green On Never remove a hot-plug drive if the LED is green.
After an online spare has been completely rebuilt,
the online LED displays solid green.
Amber Off Replace a hot-plug hard drive when the drive’s LED
is amber. Drives that have been marked as failed by
the controller are indicated by the amber Drive
Failure LED on the drive tray.
Green
Flashing
On A drive’s online LED flashes green when it is being
rebuilt. Never remove a drive while another drive is
being rebuilt. A replaced drive is restored from data
stored on the other drives.
Hot-Plug Fan LED Indicators
For an understanding of the front panel fan LED, refer to the section “Front
Panel LED Indicators” earlier in this Appendix.
