Internal Cabling with Integrated
Controller or Additional SCSI Adapter
IMPORTANT: Remove all SCSI cables from the integrated dual-channel SCSI controller if
the controller is not used to control any internal SCSI devices. Leaving these cables
connected to an internal SCSI bus could interfere with proper SCSI bus termination.
Use the following table as a guide to determine the correct cabling device for
your needs.
Table 6-2
Internal SCSI Cabling
(Simplex Backplane Configuration)
Controller Cabling hot-plug drive cage for
Wide Ultra2 hard drives
Integrated Dual Channel Wide-Ultra SCSI-3
Controller (Channel A only)
Dual Channel Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 Adapter, or Wide-
Ultra SCSI-3 Adapter
SMART-2 Array Controller /SL,/DH (internal
channel), SMART 3200 (one internal channel)
Wide Ultra2 transfer rates not supported for this
configuration.
No additional cables are required.
Connect the HD68 point-to-point cable from the
controller to the hot-plug backplane.
All cables for this configuration are supplied with
the system.
This is the default shipping configuration.
Common Use: Control all internal SCSI devices
from Channel A of the Dual Channel Wide Ultra
Controller.
Connect SCSI A channel to the drive backplane.
Dual Channel Wide Ultra Controller (both channels) All cables for this configuration are supplied with
the system.
SMART-2 Array Controller /SL,/DH (internal
channel), SMART 3200 (one internal channel)
All cables for this configuration are supplied with
the system.
Common Use: Drive array support using one of the
two SCSI channels of the SMART controller. The
second SCSI channel is available for external
storage.
Connect the internal 68-pin connector of the
SMART Array controller to the drive backplane.
