Technical data
• TruCluster Server supports clusters with up to eight member systems.
An MSA1000 may be connected to no more than four of these cluster
member systems.
• Fibre Channel arbitrated loop (FC-AL), including the MSA Hub 2/3, is
not supported with the MSA1000 at this time.
• The MSA Fabric Switch 6 (with five external and one internal ports) is
not supported at this time.
• If you install a second controller, you must also install a second Fibre
Channel I/O module or MSA SAN Switch 2/8.
• MSA1000 controller failover is not fully supported at this time. Only
fabric failover is fully supported. Refer to the
hp StorageWorks Modular
Smart Array 1000 (MSA1000) Release Notes for more information.
• An MSA1000 with dual-redundant controllers operates in Active/Passive
mode; one controller is active while the other controller is passive.
• The command-line interface (CLI) is used to configure and manage the
MSA1000.
• The maximum length of the optical cable between the Fibre Channel
host bus adapter and the switch (or hub), or the switch (or hub) and the
MSA1000, is 500 meters (1640.4 feet) via shortwave multimode Fibre
Channel cable at 1-Gb/sec. The distance is shortened to 300 meters (924
feet) at 2-Gb/sec.
• Only the Model 4314R (DS-SL13R-AA, 190209-001) and Model 4354R
(DS-SL13R-BA, 190211-001) storage enclosures are supported.
• Two Model 4314R storage enclosures may be connected to an MSA1000.
• Only one Model 4354R storage enclosure may be connected to an
MSA1000.
• The following 68-pin very high density cable interconnect
(VHDCI-to-VHDCI) cables are supported between the MSA1000 SCSI
I/O module and the Model 4314R or 4354R disk enclosure I/O modules:
- 3X-BC56J-02, 341174-B21 (1.8 m (6 feet))
- 3X-BC56J-03, 341175-B21 (3.7 meters (12 feet))
- 3X-BC56J-04, 164604-B21 (7.3 meters (24 feet))
