The MSA1000 is supported in a TruCluster Server cluster by AlphaServer
systems using the following Fibre Channel host bus adapters:
• DS-KGPSA-CA (1-Gb) — DS10, DS10L, DS20E, DS25, ES40, ES45,
GS80, GS160, and GS320
• DS-KGPSA-DA (2-Gb, FCA2354) — DS10, DS10L, DS20E, DS25, ES40,
ES45, ES47, ES80, GS80, GS160, GS320, and GS1280
• DS-KGPSA-EA (2-Gb, FCA2384) — DS10, DS10L, DS20E, DS25, ES40,
ES45, ES47, ES80, GS80, GS160, GS320, and GS1280
2.2 General Requirements and Restrictions
This section covers the requirements and restrictions for use of the MSA1000
in a TruCluster Server configuration.
For additional restrictions, or changes, and firmware upgrade procedures,
refer to the hp StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 1000 (MSA1000) Release

• Select MSA1000 Alternative Firmware Tru64 UNIX, OpenVMS,
or Alpaha-based servers under Controller Firmware.

• Extract MSA1000ReleaseNotes.pdf, the MSA1000 release notes.
If there are differences between this technical update and the MSA1000
release notes, the release notes have precedence over this technical update.
The requirements and restrictions for use of the MSA1000 in a TruCluster
Server configuration are as follows:
• At the time of publication, the MSA1000 is being shipped with the
latest firmware, version 4.24. If your MSA1000 does not have the latest
firmware, it must be upgraded. Refer to the MSA1000 release notes
for firmware upgrade instructions.
