Technical data
The MSA1000 provides Ultra3 SCSI connections to the Model 4314R or
4354R disk enclosures, which house universal 1-inch Ultra3 hard drives.
There may be a maximum of four SCSI buses: two internal SCSI buses for
the MSA1000 enclosure (SCSI buses 0 and 1), and two external SCSI buses
in the disk enclosures served by the SCSI I/O module (SCSI buses 2 and 3).
The MSA1000 drive enclosure has a split bus with two SCSI buses: SCSI
bus 0 serves bays 1 through 7, and SCSI bus 1 serves bays 8 through 14.
The SCSI I/O module provides SCSI bus 2 and 3, which can be connected
to optional expansion Model 4314R (a maximum of two) or Model 4354R (a
maximum of one) StorageWorks disk enclosures.
The correlation between bay number, SCSI bus number, and SCSI bus
ID for the MSA1000 disk enclosure, Model 4314R, and Model 4354R disk
enclosures are shown in Figure 1-1, Figure 1-2, and Figure 1-3.
