3.ASetupNoticewindowisdisplayed.PressEnteragaintocontinue.Theuserharddiskpassword
ischanged.
Note:TheharddiskpasswordcannotberemovedinUserHDPmode.
–IfyouselectMasterHDPmode,followthefollowingstepstochangethemasterharddiskpassword:
1.TypethecurrentmasterharddiskpasswordintheEnterCurrentPasswordeldandpressEnter.
2.TypethenewmasterharddiskpasswordintheEnterNewPasswordeldandpressEnter;then
retypethenewpasswordyoujustenteredintheConrmNewPasswordeldandpressEnter.
3.ASetupNoticewindowisdisplayed.PressEntertocontinue.Themasterharddiskpasswordis
changed.
Note:IfyouleavetheEnterNewPasswordandConrmNewPasswordeldsblankandpressEnter
twice,boththeuserandmasterharddiskpasswordsareremoved.
•IfyouareinUserharddiskmode,followthefollowingstepstochangetheuserharddiskpassword:

changed.

Tipsonusingtheharddiskpasswords
•YoucansettheminimumlengthofaharddiskpasswordthroughtheSecuritymenu.
•Ifyousetaharddiskpasswordofoversevencharacters,theharddiskdrivecanbeusedonlywitha
computerthatcanrecognizeaharddiskpasswordofoversevencharacters.Ifyoutheninstallthe
harddiskdriveinacomputerthatcannotrecognizeaharddiskpasswordthatcontainsmorethan
sevencharacters,youcannotaccessthedrive.
•Recordyourpasswordandstoreitinasafeplace.Ifyouforgettheuserharddiskpassword,orbothuser
andmasterharddiskpasswords,Lenovocannotresetyourpasswordsorrecoverdatafromtheharddisk
drive.YoumusttakeyourcomputertoaLenovoreselleroramarketingrepresentativetohavethehard
diskdrivereplaced.Proofofpurchaseisrequired,andafeewillbechargedforpartsandservice.
Harddisksecurity
Toprotectpasswordsfromunauthorizedsecurityattacks,refertothefollowingtipstomaximizesecurity:
•Setapower-onpasswordaswellasaharddiskpasswordforyourinternalsolid-statedriveorharddisk
