Ifyourcomputerisgettingnopoweratall,checkthefollowingitems:
1.Verifythepowerbutton.Referto“Statusindicators”onpage7.Thepowerbuttonislitwheneverthe
computerison.
2.Checkallpowerconnections.Removeanypowerstripsandsurgeprotectorstoconnecttheacpower
adapterdirectlytotheacpoweroutlet.
3.Inspecttheacpoweradapter.Checkforanyphysicaldamage,andensurethatthepowercableisrmly
attachedtotheadapterbrickandthecomputer.
4.Verifytheacpowersourceisworkingbyattachinganotherdevicetotheoutlet.
Ifyourcomputerdoesnotrunonbatterypower,dothefollowing:
1.Ifthebatteryrunsoutofpower,attachacpoweradaptertorechargethebattery.
2.Ifthebatteryischargedbutthecomputerdoesnotrun,callLenovoCustomerServiceCentertohave
itserviced.
Apowerbuttonproblem
Problem:Thesystemdoesnotrespond,andyoucannotturnoffthecomputer.
Solution:Turnoffthecomputerbypressingandholdingthepowerbuttonfor4secondsormore.Ifthe
systemisstillnotreset,removetheacpoweradapterandresetthesystembyinsertingastraightenedpaper
clipintotheemergencyresethole.Tolocatetheemergencyresethole,referto“Bottomview”onpage6.
Bootproblems
Printtheseinstructionsnowandkeepthemwithyourcomputerforreferencelater.
Ifyoureceiveanerrormessagebeforetheoperatingsystemloads,followtheappropriatecorrectiveactions
forPOSTerrormessages.
Ifyoureceiveanerrormessagewhiletheoperatingsystemisloadingthedesktopcongurationafterthe
POSTiscompleted,checkthefollowingitems:

2.GototheMicrosoftKnowledgeBasehomepageathttp://support.microsoft.com/andsearchforthe
errormessage.
Sleepandhibernationproblems
•Problem:Thecomputerenterssleepmodeunexpectedly.
Solution:Ifthemicroprocessoroverheats,thecomputerautomaticallyenterssleepmodetoallowthe
computertocoolandtoprotectthemicroprocessorandotherinternalcomponents.Checkthesettings
forsleepmode.
•Problem:Thecomputerenterssleepmode(thesleepindicatorturnson)immediatelyafterthepower-on
self-test.
Solution:Ensurethat:
–Thebatteryischarged.
–Theoperatingtemperatureiswithintheacceptablerange.Referto“Operatingenvironment”onpage

Ifthebatteryischargedandthetemperatureiswithinrange,havethecomputerserviced.
•Problem:Acriticallow-batteryerroroccurs,andthecomputerimmediatelyturnsoff.
