Tochangethecomputerstartupsettings,selectStartupfromtheThinkPadSetupmainmenu.
Attention:
•Afteryouchangethestartupsequence,youmustbeextremelycarefulnottospecifyawrongdevice
duringacopy,save,orformatoperation.Ifyouspecifyawrongdevice,yourdataandprogramsmightbe
erasedoroverwritten.
•IfyouareusingtheBitLockerdriveencryption,youshouldnotchangethestartupsequence.BitLocker
driveencryptiondetectsthechangeofstartupsequenceandlocksthecomputerfrombooting.
Changingthestartupsequence
Tochangethestartupsequence,dothefollowing:
1.SelectBootorNetwork,thenpressEnter.Thedefaultbootlistisdisplayed,showingtheorderinwhich
deviceswillbestartedup.Evendevicesthatarenotattachedtoorinstalledonyourcomputerarelisted.
•UsetheBootsubmenutospecifythestartupsequencethatrunswhenyouturnonthepower.
•UsetheNetworksubmenutospecifythestartupsequencethatrunswhenWakeonLANisenabled.
WakeonLANiscommonlyusedbyLANadministratorsincorporatenetworkstogetremoteaccess
toyourcomputer.
2.Setthestartupsequencebyusingthefollowingkeys:
•Usecursorkeystoselectadevice.
•UseF6orthecombinationofShiftand+tomovethedeviceuptoahigherpriority.
•UseF5or–tomovethedevicedowntoalowerpriority.
3.PressFn+F10tosavethechangesandrestartthesystem.
Tochangethestartupsequencetemporarilysothatthesystemstartsupfromadifferentdrive,dothe
following:
1.Turnoffthecomputer.
2.Turnonthecomputer,then,whiletheThinkPadlogoisdisplayedatthelower-leftofthescreen,
pressF12.
3.Selectthedeviceyouwanttostartrst.
