•Problem:IfyouusetheExtenddesktopfunction,youcannotsetahigherresolutionorhigherrefresh
rateonthesecondarydisplay.
Solution:Changetheresolutionandthecolordepthtolowersettingsforthemaindisplay.Refertothe
solutiontotheaboveproblem.
•Problem:Displayswitchingdoesnotwork.
Solution:IfyouusetheExtenddesktopfunction,disableit,andchangethedisplayoutputlocation.If
aDVDmovieoravideoclipisplaying,stoptheplayback,closetheapplication,andthenchangethe
displayoutputlocation.
•Problem:Thescreenpositionontheexternalmonitorisincorrectwhenthatmonitorissetforahigh
resolution.
Solution:Sometimes,whenyouuseahighresolutionsuchas1600x1200,theimageisshiftedtoleftor
rightonthescreen.Tocorrectthis,rstensurethatyourexternalmonitorsupportsthedisplaymode
(theresolutionandtherefreshrate)thatyouhaveset.Ifitdoesnot,setadisplaymodethatthemonitor
supports.Ifitdoessupportthedisplaymodeyouhaveset,gotothesetupmenuforthemonitoritself
andadjustthesettingsthere.Usuallytheexternalmonitorhasbuttonsforaccesstothesetupmenu.For
details,seethedocumentationthatcomeswiththemonitor.
Audioproblems
•Problem:WaveorMIDIsounddoesnotplaycorrectly.
Solution:Ensurethatthebuilt-inaudiodeviceisconguredcorrectly.
1.Movethecursortothetop-rightorbottom-rightcornerofthescreentodisplaythecharms.Click
Settings➙ControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound➙DeviceManager➙Sound,videoandgamecontrollers.
3.EnsurethattheRealtekHighDenitionAudioisenabledandconguredcorrectly:
•Problem:Recordingsmadeusingthemicrophoneinputarenotloudenough.
Solution:EnsurethattheMicrophoneBoostfunctionisturnedonandsetbydoingthefollowing:
1.Movethecursortothetop-rightorbottom-rightcornerofthescreentodisplaythecharms.Click
Settings➙ControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound➙Sound➙Recording➙Microphone➙Properties➙Levels.
3.IncreasethemicrophonevolumebymovingtheMicrophoneBoostsliderright.
4.ClickOK.
Note:Fordetailsaboutcontrollingvolume,refertoyourWindowsonlinehelp.
•Problem:Avolumeorbalanceslidercannotbemoved.
Solution:Theslidermightbegrayedout.Thismeansthatitspositionisxedbythehardwareand
cannotbechanged.
•Problem:Thevolumeslidersdonotstayinplacewhensomeaudioapplicationsareused.
