Core - Laminated sheet steel. Provided with a shunt between primary and
filament windings.
Marking - Includes company name, transformer catalog number and
insulation system designation.
Insulating Barriers - Minimum 1.0 mm thick between high voltage winding
and core, 0.26 mm between high voltage winding and filament winding and
0.2 mm between primary winding and core.
H.V. Winding - Aluminium wire. Grounded end is mechanically secured and
soldered to copper-alloy, closed-loop connector or rivet which is
secured to core by self-tapping screw or rivet. H.V. end is terminated
in copper-alloy quick connect tab with insulated copper wire,0.8
diameter.
Filament Winding - Insulated copper wire, 0.8 mm diameter. Leads are
extensions of filament winding, with various lengths, and terminate in
copper-alloy quick-connect terminals with detent. located between H.V.
winding and core shunt. Leads are routed away from contact with dead-
metal parts, line voltage circuits and low-voltage circuits.
Primary Winding Aluminium wire, 1.4 mm diameter. Ends are
mechanically secured and soldered to copper alloy quick-connect tabs
which are, in turn, secured to thermoplastic holder, supported on the
primary winding by the rigidity of the winding and by tape, which has
been evaluated as part of the overall insulation system. Quick-connect
tabs are 0.8 mm thick, 6.2 mm wide minimum with detent.
Mounting Bracket - Plated steel, 1.5 mm thick. Mounting bracket secured
by screws to the bottom enclosure of microwave oven. Entire transformer
varnish-dipped except for area immediately surrounding one mounting
hole. Grounding continuity is maintained by contact between unvarnished
section of mounting bracket and unpainted surface of the bottom
enclosure.
