7.7 Muting Your Telephone
By using the MUTE button, you can block transmission of
your voice to the calling party. For example, if someone comes
into your office to talk to you and you do not want this conver
-
sation to interrupt the distant party, press the MUTE button.
To mute your telephone,
press and hold MUTE (you can still hear the distant
party’s voice).
To speak to the calling party,
release MUTE.
7.8 Operating A Department Station
If your station is within a departmental group of stations, you
can place you station in either an off-duty or a wrap-up mode.
Off duty is when you leave your station for an extended period
of time. Wrap up is when you need time after a call to complete
related paperwork but you will remain at your telephone. In
both cases, you calls will ring at another department station
while the feature is active. Your telephone must include a pre-
programmed DND (do not disturb) button if you need to exer-
cise this feature.
To switch between on duty and off duty,
press preprogrammed DND button.
To switch between on duty and wrap up,
press HOLD,
press preprogrammed DND button.
