3.11 Making A Subdued Off-Hook
Voice Announcement
(SOHVA)
You can make a subdued voice announcement to another sta
-
tion that is off-hook and busy on a call if the system is arranged
to provide this feature. If your telephone provides a SOHVA
button and you encounter a busy tone after making an intercom
call, you can then decide whether to deliver a SOHVA mes
-
sage, camp on at that station, set a message-waiting indicator,
or hang up. Without this special button, the SOHVA call com
-
pletes automatically.
Make a SOHVA announcement using the SOHVA button
as follows:
make intercom call and hear busy tone,
decide whether to interrupt or not,
if you decide not to interrupt the called party, hang up,
–or–
to interrupt, press preprogrammed SOHVA button and
hear several quick tone bursts,
make announcement (busy tone means that the called tele-
phone is in speakerphone mode and you cannot make an-
nouncement, that your SOHVA has been denied through
system programming, or that the called party has blocked
your SOHVA),
wait on line for reply (either verbal or LCD reply).
NOTE: The caller cannot control how the announcement is received.
This depends upon the equipment used and station program
-
ming.
