* The common equipment cabinet requires a dedicated 115VAC 15 AMP circuit, with a
third-wire ground, supplied to standard NEMA 5-15R electrical outlet.
NOTE: A dedicated outlet is an outlet that is used only for telephony supported products or
devices. The power connection is not meant for normal use by employees (e.g., a connection for
a vacuum cleaner).
* The distance between the common equipment and the TELCO/PBX jacks should be 25
feet or less as per FCC requirements.
* The location must be secure and dry and have adequate ventilation. Most Comdial
documents state that the temperature range of a suitable location is within 32–122 degrees
F (0–50 degrees C). However, some of those documents were written only in regards to
the telephony side of the system.
If your FX II is installed with a CTI server and/or voicemail, it must be located in a room
with a much lower temperature. PCs are extremely sensitive to heat and may lock up or
reboot themselves when overheating, interrupting the operation of CTI, voice processing,
or call center applications.
When determining a suitable temperature range, choose a location between 32 to 85
degrees (F). If the location is hotter than this, it is wise to invest in additional PC fans or
heat-reduction paste to lessen the affect of heat on the PC connected to the system.
* Relative humidity in the location area must be less than 90 percent, non-condensing.
Mounting Options for FX II Systems
• There are various ways to mount the FX II systems.
• The FXII can be mounted to a wall or rack.
• Before mounting the FXII, you must determine if a battery backup kit is to be used. Battery
backups can affect system access and mounting options.
