• To download VMMI software:
1. Click on the Software – VMMI heading.
2. Look to the Description column on the right side of the screen to find the latest VMMI
software version (the version with the highest number—VMMI16a/180 (disk 1) and
VMMI16a/180 (disk 2) as of this writing).
3. Double-click on the file you want to download, and follow the instructions to download
the VMMI software. You must download both the “disk 1” and “disk 2” software files to
a directory on the PC where you want to run VMMI (or to separate diskettes, which you
can then copy onto the PC where you want to run VMMI).
4. Once you download the files to a directory on your PC (or to diskettes, which you then
must copy to a directory on the PC), extract the VMMI setup program by double-clicking
on each of the downloaded .exe files.
5. Once you have extracted the setup program files, access the directory into which they
were extracted, and click on the file setup.exe. Follow the on-screen prompts to
complete the VMMI software installation on the PC.
• To download phone system initialization or upgrade software:
1. Locate the phone system for which you want to download software, for example
Software – FX or Software – DXP Plus.
2. Look to the Description column on the right side of the screen to find the appropriate
software release number and port size for the phone system. For example, FX II 16a 180
96 port software.
3. Once you download an .exe file, you extract it by double-clicking on it. From the .exe
file you will extract a .bin file. It is the .bin file that is the software file required for the
initialization or software upgrade of the phone system.
Uploading Initialization/Upgrade Software to the Phone System
• Once you download software from the Dealer Resource Center to a PC, and extract the .bin
file, you must connect the PC to the Comdial system to upload and install the .bin file
software.
• You upload and install the .bin file software to the phone system using the Comdial VMMI
program, which must also be installed on the PC connected to the phone system. VMMI
allows the PC to communicate with any Comdial system.
