Feature Set and Release Number Review
Feature Sets
• The Feature Set is represented by an Alphanumeric code such as 13C, 14A, etc. and will be
associated with a group of enhancements.
• In the example below, Feature Set 16A contains the following features that by default come
with the release. (These features were not introduced with 16A, they are from prior versions
of telephony software.)
* CFOS
* Station Hunting
* Ring Monitoring
• The features above do not have to be purchased. However, 16A does come with some
features that can only be used if purchased from Comdial:
* Impact Networking
* VoIP Networking (FX systems only)
* UCD Reports
* Fiber Expansion
• To activate these special features, you must contact Comdial Distributor Sales and receive a
software key code (also referred to as a system software code) for input it into the telephone
system. This code is entered in VMMI during the software upgrade or initialization process.
The procedure is discussed in the next topic.
Release (Build) Numbers
• The release number is sequential and represents the version of operating software currently
on the telephone system. Each feature set has a minimal release number with which it is
compatible. If a customer needs a certain feature set, they must be sure they have at least the
minimal release number (operating software) to support it:
