Programming the Comdial System 
Overview 
•  This section provides an overview on the use of Comdial Visual Man-Machine Interface 
(VMMI) software to program the Comdial Common Code Based (CCB) digital 
communications system. 
•  On certain Comdial systems, the port size and feature sets are dependent on the software 
version installed on the system. Therefore, this section also discusses how you obtain system 
software releases from the Comdial Dealer Resource Center and how you upload those 
releases to the system using VMMI. 
Objectives 
Upon completion of this section you will be able to: 
•  Understand the general features that VMMI offers to the programming technician. 
•  Understand how different software releases are numbered and how to access and activate 
software releases and feature sets 
•  Understand how to initialize and upgrade the DXP/Plus and FX family of communication 
systems. 
•  Download software from the Dealer Resource Center and upload it to the DXP Plus or FX 
system using VMMI.
