Centrex Line Board
Part Number: FXCMW-08 (Centrex Message Waiting Line Board)
• Centrex message waiting loop start-line boards provide message waiting and Caller ID
interfaces.
• With the Centrex Message Waiting feature, a signal from an external message center lights a
message waiting light on the system telephones and causes a message waiting indicator to
display on proprietary LCD speakerphones.
• The service provider sends two different message signals to the FX system: line number with
message waiting status OFF or line number with message waiting status ON. If the message
wait status is OFF, the system removes the message waiting indication from all applicable
stations.
• When the system receives message wait status ON, it verifies that the line is enabled for the
message waiting feature. If this is so, the system responds in either one of two ways:
* The system forwards the message waiting signal to up to four stations that installers have
selected to receive message waiting signals and retrieve the messages, or
* In the absence of the special line programming station assignment, the system verifies
that the stations connected to the incoming message waiting lines have one of the
following conditions assigned:
• Direct message waiting line appearance
• Direct or delayed ringing enabled for the message waiting line
• A message waiting line assigned to the stations as a prime line.
* Once the system verifies that one of conditions is active, it updates the appropriate light
and LCD display to indicate that a message is waiting on the specific line.
• The system queues a maximum of 8 messages at a time for each station including internal
and external messages; however, it ignores any messages beyond this maximum number.
