2.  If integration digits are received, the Key Voice system reads the file named TRANS.TXT to 
see if those specific digits are listed in the file. The TRANS.TXT file identifies certain 
integration digits the phone system may pass to the Key Voice system along with rules that 
instruct the Key Voice system what to do if it receives those specific digits. Because of the 
TRANS.TXT file, when the phone system passes certain integration digits to the Key Voice 
system with a call, the Key Voice system will handle that call a specific way—play the 
greeting for a particular box to the caller, for example. 
3.  If the integration digits received with the call are not listed in the TRANS.TXT file or if no 
integration digits are received, the Key Voice system sends the call to the box indicated on 
the Line Information screen. The specific box on this screen that receives the call is dictated 
according to the Key Voice extension port on which the call came in and the current system 
mode (Day, Lunch, Night). 
Note that if the system date is a date that has been designated as a holiday on the Holiday screen, the 
call is not sent to the box indicated on the Line Information screen. Instead, the call is sent to the 
specific box listed for that date on the Holiday screen. On holiday dates, for all 24 hours, the box 
entries on the Line Information screen are ignored, and the box indicated on the Holiday screen for 
that date gets the call. 
4.  When the call is sent to a box, the box plays its greeting to the caller. Typically, the boxes 
technicians indicate on the Line Information screen are Routing boxes. When a call is sent to 
a Routing box, the greeting typically provides the caller options for routing the call (“Thank 
you for calling XYZ company. Please dial the extension of the person you want to speak 
with, or press 1 for Sales, 2 for Support…).
