offdustormists containing crystallinesilica. Silicaisa
basic component of sand, quartz, brickclay, graniteand
numerousother minerals and rocks. Repeated and/or
substantial inhalation of airborne crystalline silicacan
causeseriousorfatal respiratory diseases, including
silicosis. In addition, California and some other
authorities have listed respirable crystallinesilicaasa
substanceknown to causecancer. When cuttingsuch
materials, alwaysfollowthe respiratory precautions
mentioned above.

containingchemicals knownto cause serious or fatal
injuryor illness, such as respiratory disease, cancer,
birthdefects or otherreproductiveharm. If youare
unfamiliar with therisks associated with the particular
processand/ormaterialbeing cut or thecomposition of
thetoolbeing used, review thematerialsafetydata
sheet and/or consult your employer, thematerial
manufacturer/supplier, governmental agencies suchas
OSHAand NIOSH and other sourcesonhazardous
materials.California and someother authorities,for
instance,have published lists of substances knownto
causecancer, reproductivetoxicity, or other harmful
effects.
Controldust, mist andfumes at the source where
possible.Inthisregarduse good work practices and
followthe recommendationsofthe manufacturers or
suppliers, OSHA/NIOSH, andoccupational and trade
associations. Water shouldbe usedfor dust
suppression when wet cutting is feasible.Whenthe
hazardsfrom inhalation of dust,mists and fumes cannot
be eliminated, the operatorand any bystanders should
always weararespirator approved by NIOSH/MSHA for
thematerials being used.
