5. Remove the portalter by pulling it down and out.
6. Fill the lter completely with espresso powder. One batch of espresso powder is sufcient
for roughly 2 to 4 cups of espresso.
7. Smooth out the espresso powder and lightly compact it using the tamper on the measuring
spoon which is supplied.
8. Remove any excess powder from the edge of the lter. Make sure that you do not overll
the lter. There must be no espresso powder above the height of the edge.
9. Insert the portalter into the espresso machine. The handle
must be aligned with the open lock symbol.
10. Turn the handle towards the closed lock symbol. Make sure
that the portalter is secured in place.
11. Place the espresso pot under the espresso discharge opening.
12. If you have preheated the device in the manner described in the "Preheating the Espresso
Machine" section, the VORHEIZEN AN/AUS (PREHEAT ON/OFF) switch should be in
the "AN" (ON) position and the rst control lamp should be lit up.
13. Wait until the second control lamp from the left also lights up.
14. Move the START/STOP switch to the "START" position as soon as the second control
lamp from the left lights up. Espresso will ow through the espresso discharge opening.
15. Move the START/STOP switch to the "STOP" position as soon as you want to stop the
brewing procedure.
