INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
1.
Open
the
UTI and position a program
med
key
inside the ribbon cable.
2.
Close the UTI ensuring that the key
is
held firmly
in
place between the foam pads.
3. Connect the RED wire
to
a fused constant 12 volt supply.
4. Connect the BLACK wire to the Negative While Running Output from the remote start
unit.
5.
Install the antenna ring around the
ign~ion
cylinder keeping it
as
close
to
the key as
possible.
6. Test the remote start before securing
the
ring
in
place with wire ties or tape.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If
the
en
gine fails to start. perform this quick test to verify
if
the problem
Is
remote start or
transponder bypass related.
a.
Remove the PROGRAMMED ignition key from the UTI.
b.
Place the key
in
the ignition leaving it
in
the OFF position. Activate the remote start.
c.
If the engine fails
to
start, the problem
is
v.ith the remote start and/or the remote start
installation.
d.
If
the
engine does start, the problem is
w~h
the UTI. Retum the ignition key to the UTI
and
try to adjust the antenna ring and/or
pos~ion.
Test again until proper positioning is
achieved.
KEY SENSING SHUT OFF CIRCUIT'
'OPTIONAL
YELLOW Wire: The key sense shut
off
is NOT required for the UTI to function,
butlhe
jumper
must
be
placed
on
either
(+)
or (-). The YELLOW key sense wire
can
be triggered by either a (-)
or
(+) key sense signal from the ignition cylinder
to
shut off the UTI whenever a key
is
inserted
into
the
ignition key cylinder.
