The
Code Alarm MBS Multi-Tone
Battery Back Up
Siren
is design
ed
to provide maximum protection for your
vehicle.
In
the event an attempt is
made to bypass
your
security system
by
disconnecting the
vehicle's
main battery,
or
power to the security system
itself, the MBS will Sound
for
up
to 15 minutes. Reconnecting the
power
source
will restore
normal
operation.
MOUNTING THE
SIREN:
Choose a
location
in the engine
compartment that
will
provide maximum
sound
distribution. Be certain the chosen
location
is away from hot
or
moving parts, and inaccessible from
below
the
vehicle. Ideal locations .would
be on top
of
the inner fender
well
or
the rear
firewal
l.
Always
point the siren downward to prevent water from
collecting
in the horn end
or
siren.
Check
behind your chosen location
to insure the drilling
and the mounting screws
will
not penetrate any wires
or
fluid lines
in
the
vehicle.
Using
the siren's bracket as a
template,
mark two
holes,
and
drill
through the
panel
using a 1
/8" drill
bit.
Secure
the bracket to the
panel
using two
#1
0
x
3/4"
screws.
WIRING:
Red: Connect the Red wire
of
the siren to constant + 12
volt source. For the highest degree
of
security, connect the Red wire
of
MBS
to the +12
volt
wire
of
your alarm's control module.
Black:
Connect the
Black
wire to a known chassis ground.
For
the highest degree
of
security, connect the
Black
wire to the ground wire
of
your existing alarm
system.
Purple: Connect
the
Purple
wire to the +12
volt siren output wire
of
your security system,
if
your system switches + 12
volts
to the siren.
Blue: Connect
the
Blue wire to the negative
siren output wire
of
your security system, if your system switches negative to the siren.
NOTE:
Either the
Blue
Negative switched,
or
the Purple
Positive switched wire
will
be Jsed
for
operation
of
your
system. The unused wire
should be taped and
properly insulated
to prevent shorting and
accidental
siren turn on.
OPERATION:
After
all
connections have been made, move the key switch
located
on the back
of
the siren housing to the
"ON"
position as shown in the
diagram.
Arming your security system
will
cause the
MBS
to
emit
an arming chirp, disarming your security system
will
cause the
MBS
to emit the
disarming chirp.
Note: The
Alarm's
chirp selectable
feature must be turned on
for
the
audfble indicati-on listed
above to sound when arming and disarming.
Arm
the security. system, and open any protected entry area, this
caus~s
the
MBS
to sound. Disarm the security system
to stop the siren's
sounding.

CHARGING
THE
BACK
UP BATIERY:
The back up battery must be
fully
charged
in
the
vehicle
for 24 hours.

charge the
"Back
Up Battery"
simply
assure that. the key switch
located on the back
of
the siren is in the
"ON"
position, the Red,
Black,

either
Blue or
Purple wires are properly connected, then operate the
vehicle normally.
After
24 hours the
Siren's
Back Up Battery
will
be
fully
charged.
TESTING
THE
BATIERY
BACK
UP
FEATURE: '
With the siren's key switch moved to the
ON
position, disconnect either the Red,
or
Black
wire. This simulates disconnection
of
the
vehicle's
main battery and
will
cause the siren's battery back up to take
over
and operate the siren. Reconnecting the Red
or
Black
wire will
restore
notrmal
operation.
CAUTION:
When testing the siren, it is recommended that ear protection be used to prevent damage to your hearing.
NOTE:
BE
CERTAIN TO RECONNECT ANY DISCONNECTED WIRING AND
MOVE THE
KEY SWITCH TO
THE
"ON"
POSITION
AFTER COMPLETING
THE
ABOVE TESTS.
