Antenna selection
This antenna is suitable for communication over short to long distances up to 2000 km (1200 mi),
using frequencies of 2–30 MHz. This antenna does not use the internal antenna tuner of the
transceiver.
Deploying the tactical end-fed broadband antenna
To ensure optimal transceiver performance and
to avoid exposure to excessive electromagnetic
fields, the antenna system must be deployed
according to the instructions provided.
Preparing the antenna for deployment
To prepare the antenna:
1 Locate a suitable structure (e.g. tree) that will
hold the end of the antenna approximately
10 m (33 ft) from the ground.
Heights below this may reduce the capability
for long-distance communications.
1 Unwind the entire lengths of antenna wire
and halyard from the winding spools neatly.
1 Connect one end of the coaxial cable to the
connector at the bottom of the balun.NOTE
Select a site that is clear of
overhead power lines and other
electrical interference.
