Cobalt CacheRaQ 4 User Manual 67
Transparent Caching mode using one
network interface
Installation notes
To avoid changes to the clients conguration, assign the existing gateway
address used by the clients to the CacheRaQ 4s Network 1 interface.
Assign a new IP address to the router/rewall.
Use the new IP address of the router/rewall as the gateway setting on the
CacheRaQ 4.
Advantage
The client machines do not require a special conguration.
Disadvantage
If the CacheRaQ 4 fails, the clients cannot access the outside network until
the CacheRaQ 4 comes back online.
However, if the clients can be congured with multiple gateway addresses,
you can congure them with the new IP address for the router/rewall. The
clients can then use this address if the CacheRaQ 4 fails.
