Chapter 3: CacheRaQ 4 Administration
40 Cobalt CacheRaQ 4 User Manual
Disable Caching
Occasionally, CacheRaQ 4 users may have trouble accessing certain Web sites
through the cache. This is often due to authentication schemes in which the
server-side software authenticates users based on the IP address from which the
user connects to the server. Schemes of this nature do not work with caches
because the server software receives requests from the caches IP address rather
than from the clients IP addresses.
Caching can be disabled for specic server addresses. Both individual server
hosts or server networks can be congured not to be cached. Additionally,
specic client addresses (hosts or networks) can also be congured not to be
cached.
To disable caching for a specic host or network, click Disable Caching at the
top. A table appears listing (if any) the hosts or networks whose trafc is not
cached.
If there are entries in the table, you can modify an entry by clicking the green
pencil icon or delete an entry by clicking the brown traschcan icon.
Note: The Disable Caching feature is available only when clients
are using the CacheRaQ 4 in Transparent Caching mode.
