13. Network Connectivity and Security
The Coag-Sense meter offers the ability to receive product software
updates from the manufacturer via the Internet. The Coag-Sense meter
can be connected to a Local Area Network (LAN) via either a direct
Ethernet connection or wirelessly using Wi-Fi. If this meter is connected
to a local area network, the network must be protected against
unauthorized access. Customers are responsible for the security of their
local area network, especially in protecting it against malicious software
and attacks. This protection might include measures, such as a firewall to
separate the device from uncontrolled networks and intrusion detection
that ensure that the connected network is free of malicious code including
intrusion detection.
14. Bluetooth App Security
For security reasons, it is recommended that you only connect your Coag-
Sense meter to Bluetooth apps that have been provided to you by your
home testing service provider or CoaguSense.
15. Meter Software Update
When connected to the Internet the Coag-
Sense meter will check for the availability of
meter software updates which can be
downloaded. If the meter is not continuously
connected to the Internet, you should make
it a practice to periodically connect the meter
to the Internet to check for software updates.
If a critical update is available, the meter may require the installation of an
update prior to proceeding with testing. Make sure to check if the battery
is charged enough before performing an update. If the battery’s charge is
not enough and then the meter is abruptly turned off during update, an
error may occur on the meter.
